I'm going to talk about something different to today. I've been a huge MegaMan fan for years. Who doesn't love the blue bomber? He's blue, cool, and a robotic hero. Lately MegaMan hasn't been very active. It appears Capcom has some a lot of faith in the franchise. How did this happen?
This all began when MegaMan Legends 3 was canceled. Many fans felt cheated. Capcom displayed a upcoming trailer for the game. They made a message board for fans to summit ideas to. MegaMan fans were very excited for the game. Everything turned upside down when the game was canceled. Soon afterwards MegaMan Universe for the Wii was canceled.
There was some speculation that Capcom canceled these games because MegaMan's creator Keiji Inafune left the company on bad terms. In response to Capcom's decisions the fans were very angry. They spent their time and energy on the message boards. They were extremely excited for the upcoming games. Some fans felt like Capcom lied to them. While others believed Capcom wanted to sale MegaMan rights to another gaming company.
2012 has not been a great year Megaman. There are no current games in development. Capcom did not reveal anything at E3.
A lot of fans are begging for a MegaMan X9. I don't see this happening in the near future. MegaMan X8 was a total bust. The game did not sale well. It only sold 38,000 copies. I personally thought it was a good game. It just was not promoted very well. It did not receive very good reviews. Capcom most likely does not believe MegaMan X9 is worth the finical risk.
MegaMan's 25th anniversary is coming up in December. 2013 may be a big year for MegaMan. I think the franchise really needs it. I hope there will be at least one game made in 2013. Only time will tell if MegaMan will regain the video game spotlight.
Please post your comments and concerns. What do you think the future holds for MegaMan? Will 2013 be a good year for him?
